Why Invest in a Rainwater Tank?

Benefits of a Rainwater Tank

  1. Your property value.
There is a large sum or money spent by people to have a nice garden, and will get it back if they do sell the house. If you were a potential buyer of a house with a garden with just a couple of natives and a dead lawn. Would you pay exactly what the vendors are asking for?

People are future proofing their homes. Having a rainwater tank already installed will add value to the home as the new buyer will factor that in when making an offer.
  2. Saving Money.
Water prices are comparatively low in Australia. At the rate we are using water. It will be not be surprising if there is a price restructure in the near future.

Car washing is costly in the long term. When you add up the receipts of your commercial car wash, you would be surprised how much you have paid. What about the second car? Using rainwater to wash your car is the cheapest way to protect the paintwork and value of your second highest material investment in your life.
Rainwater is free except for the initial investment in a rainwater tank and accessories if you intend to use it for toilets and laundry. With a long life that a polyethylene tank has, it will service you well into the future.
  3. Saving our country's future.
Saving our water resources that is constantly dwindling down will help secure our children's future. We cannot imagine them going through life without a backyard, fewer parks to walk and play on and paying a very high price for water in the future.
  4. Reclaiming your freedom with water.
We should have the right to use water for it is the essential ingredient of life. Unfortunately water restrictions in one form or another are here to stay. Gone are the days we can do something like washing down your dusty driveway. Washing your car the way we're used to. Just spot cleaning the screen, windows and mirrors doesn't get the car cleaned.
  5. The Future.
Even if we get a lot of rain in the next few years, which is almost doubtful, we need to help the reservoirs replenish themselves and to give this beautiful country a great future for everybody most importantly our children. Less than 1% of the world's water is potable, and if we lose just a fraction of that amount, life will never be the same again.

Food for thought.... Rainwater harvesting is not an exact science, however the simple rule should be, give yourself every opportunity to fill up your tank each time it rains and you have used properly what you have invested in. People are thinking and talking about future proofing their homes in terms of liveability and future value on their biggest investment in life. Fast collection and usage is the best way to ensure water quality in your tank. Storing stagnant water is not the best way to use your tank - green without envy! Your precious home and garden is certainly worth one holiday. It takes years to establish a garden and one summer without water to end it.
